The Climate Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for setting and monitoring the Network's emissions reduction targets, for planning the adaptation of the Network's sites and services to a changing climate, and for the collection and publication of climate reporting from departments and member organisations.

With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at climate.gov.vin. The site carries press releases and official statements, the Network's baseline emissions inventory and reduction targets, the adaptation programme for the six principal sites, the climate risk register, and guidance for the departments and member organisations that report to the Department.

The publication of the baseline inventory and targets, the adaptation programme and the reporting requirements are the subject of separate announcements published today. The Department will report progress against the targets each quarter, beginning with the quarter ending 30 September 2026. General enquiries may be sent to contact@climate.gov.vin.
